GOSTILITSA
VILLAGE AMENITIES
A. MAYOR'S OFFICE:
The mayor's office is through the gate to the right of the post office and then through the first door on the left. Go up the stairs to the first floor (past all the photos of previous mayors) and it's the door on the left.
A. POST OFFICE:
This is accessed directly from the main road via the white doors (there's a yellow mail box outside). The current post mistress is Dana Chucovska who works Mon, Tue, Fri 8am - 12noon.
Your mail will be stored here so just ask for it by name. You can also send things from here by normal post.
B. COMMUNITY CENTRE:
This is the large pink building at the far end of the square. It houses a small hall for events, a huge theatre, library, toy museum, museum of village artifacts and various offices. It's manned every day by Reicho, Natasha and Dobrina and also has several computers through which you can access the internet free of charge. Open weekdays 9am till 4pm.
C. SHOP:
Up the steps on the north side of the square is a large shop selling all kinds of fresh, frozen and packaged food. There are tables and chairs inside where you can sit and enjoy a drink and a simple meal, and in warmer weather there are seats outside. There's a toilet just off the foyer (ask for the key at the counter). There is a facility for paying bills here if you know your account numbers.
D. SHOP:
Up the street to the right of the school building is a shop/bar run by Dida Dimitrova and her family. Inside you can find a great range of fresh and packaged food as well as other items such as hats and gloves. There are seating areas inside and out where you can enjoy a drink and a simple meal (menu coming soon). TV is available and there is free internet access. There is a facility for paying bills if you know your account numbers.
E. ROSEVILLE UK FOOD:
Once a month Roseville UK Food (run by Dave and Helen Sharpe, pictured right) visits the village selling a range of items brought from the UK. You can simply turn up and purchase on the day or you can pre-order. There is a product and price list on their Facebook page (Click here for link) along with details of how to order. Specific dates are posted on the 'Upcoming Events' page of this site.
HOTELS & GUEST HOUSES:
There are three main guest houses in the village. Click on each name to be taken directly to their websites where you can find more details of facilities, prices and booking arrangements. Alternatively I have a tent you can put up in my garden, guaranteed leak proof in dry weather.
I. THE STADIUM
In recent years a lot of work has been done to bring the sports stadium back into a usable condition, and it is now the scene of regular events. It features a large level sports field complete with goal posts, a covered stage for concerts, and two toilet blocks. Future projects include renovating the changing rooms and the spectator area. Last summer Gostilitsa hosted cricket matches between the village team and visitors, there was a huge three day festival and horse endurance event, and regular games of rounders.
J. DOCTOR
Dr Diana Boteva holds a surgery here twice a week at which time home visits are also available. For more details see the Healthcare section of this site.
RUBBISH DISPOSAL
Some households have individual bins, in other places you'll need to take your rubbish to one of the bigger containers dotted around. The binmen usually come once a fortnight (tends to be on a Tuesday but this can vary).
The municipality is charged by the weight of refuse with extra fees if stuff which shouldn't be in the bins is found. This includes green waste and waste building materials so please avoid these.
Plant/vegetable matter can easily be composted in the garden, branches can be left to dry and cut up for firewood or kindling. If you have a lot of stuff to get rid of, you can take it to the official green waste site just outside the village. Drive on the main road towards Dryanovo. You'll soon come to a sharp S bend and off to the left you'll see a stone track. Just follow this uphill for a few hundred meters and you'll see the area for waste. Remember, green only here.
If you have waste building materials or even bulky things like furniture, you can dispose of them for free at the waste site on the edge of Sevlievo. It's just outside of town on the road which leads from Sevlievo past Lovnidol to Yantra. The picture on the right shows the sign outside. Just take your lichna card as proof that you are resident in the area.
