About thirty minutes drive away is the town of Tryavna. It makes a lovely day out as there is a substantial old town area with cobbled streets and traditional buildings to wander through. There are numerous cafes and restaurants dotted around and several nice seating areas in shady parks. The tourist information office (look for the big green 'i') has a map of the town showing the location of the many museums and points of interest. In July they hold an annual folk festival with performers from around the world. Near the tourist information office you can hire the big four seater cycling machines you often used to see at the seaside, to cycle around the square.
