Shipka Monastery

Mum and I spotted the Shipka Monastery on our way back from Kazanlak.  It had been overcast and raining for much of the day but then the sun came out and suddenly, in the distance, came a brilliant flash of gold.  Needless to say we headed off to investigate.  It's an absolutely beautiful church with lots of golden domes and walls painted orangey-red and white.  Be warned; the bells are incredibly loud!

Opening Hours:

May – October: 8.30 am – 5.30 pm

November – April: 8.30 am – 5.00 pm

There is no charge to visit the monastery.
