On Friday there is a big outdoor market (A) just as you enter Sevlievo from the direction of Gostilitsa. There are dozens of stalls selling everything imaginable, from clothing, toys, material, tools and souvenirs, to second-hand goods, cars and even weapons. As they say in Bulgaria "От пиле мляко".

A bit further into town, also on Friday, there is a lovely fruit and veg market (B). At certain times of the year you can also buy a good selection of vines and fruit trees here. If you continue along the market street you'll come to a pedestrianised zone which has lots of little household goods shops and some nice cafes. Just behind the fruit and veg shops (as opposed to temporary stalls) you'll find an excellent butcher and a bakery. Both are always packed with customers which attests to their quality. In the butchers you can buy meat and then get them to mince it for you for free.

SUPERMARKETS (Remember 20 or 50 stotinki coins for the trolleys and your own carriers if you don't want to buy more)

A huge supermarket, much like a superstore in the UK. They sell all kinds of fresh, packaged and frozen food as well as seasonal goods and general household items. Just past the check-outs there are some smaller shops e.g. insurance broker, chemist and snack bar. The toilets are located just as you enter the store. (D) Lidl

This is just like the Lidls back in the UK and sell a good range of foods as well as weekly household goods such as tin openers and chain saws - you know you want them! Every so often they do theme weeks such as Spanish food or English week. No Bisto but they do have very tasty butter. Click here for a list of current special offers.

(E) Billa

Another supermarket with a good range of foods. I particularly like the marinated meats from here, and the fresh baked bread is lovely. Make sure you fill out the form for your free loyalty card (Karta na Billa) which entitles you to the discounted prices of things on special.
