GOSTILITSA
Koprivshtitsa
Koprivshtitsa is a beautiful small town absolutely packed full of history and stunning architecture. It was one of the main places involved in the April uprising in 1876 against the Ottoman rule, and you can see a bridge there with a sign proclaiming it to be the place where the very first gunshot of the uprising took place.
Many of the houses are where prominant figures in the uprising lived, and they have now been turned into museums relating the history and events of the time, as well as letting you see how houses would have been furnished back then.
The streets are narrow and cobbled, and don't tend to have much traffic, allowing you to wander at your own pace.
There are plenty of places to eat and stay, and the town hosts various events and festivals throughout the year.
