Etar is a museum complex demonstrating many aspects of life in Bulgaria years ago.  It is constructed like a street with workshops such as woodwork, pottery, leather work, herbalist and so on.  You can watch the craftsmen and women at work and purchase goods if you wish.  It's another beautiful setting along a river to the south of Gabrovo and it's very interesting to see how water powers the various bits of machinery.  If you can, go on a bank holiday because out of season some of the workshops seem to be closed.  In early September there is usually a big international craft festival with stalls from lots of different countries demonstrating handicrafts and examples of Bulgarian folk dancing, music and singing. Sometimes you might even see a traditional puppet show!
